It is also very easy to select a modpack or create a custom modpack through their client. So every mod on CurseForge can be downloaded through them. They bought and added CurseForge to their client. To distribute the mods you can simply use the Twitch client/ desktop app.
I have little experience with running a linux server myself but I use bisect hosting and access it through a panel or FTP. I am running a private server for a custom modpack that I use. What would you do? Modded? Which modloader? What version? And the least amount of hassel. I guess what i am trying to ask is basically if you were too right now start a succesful MC server. Is there a faster way to do it or for me to expedite the process?

Is it difficult for a novice user to install a modloader + mods? I generally understand they have to install MC client, then install forge, then install the mods into the mods folder. A lot of the users in my community love gaming, but aren't quite computer savvy. Would you reccomend running the latest version server or back to 1.4 release?
